Domestic Violence Advocate (Bilingual – English and Spanish)
 

Gateway is seeking a full-time domestic violence advocate. The advocate will primarily serve adult survivors of domestic violence – those who live in Gateway’s housing programs and those who live elsewhere in the community.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (psychology, sociology, human services, etc.). Gateway will consider candidates who do not have a degree but have at least four years of relevant work experience. Able to calmly manage crisis situations. Able to work and solve problems independently. Values that align with Gateway’s mission. Able to successfully complete Gateway’s rigorous background screening process. Must be fluent in English and Spanish.

 

Duties: Provide support, safety planning, and resource referrals on Gateway’s crisis hotline. Provide case management services including intake, resource referrals, safety planning, goal setting. Assist with Gateway support group programming. Other duties as assigned.

 

Location: This position is based at Gateway’s domestic violence shelter, which is in the city of Gainesville. Community-based advocacy is encouraged, and home visits are not a part of this position.

 

Schedule: We will try to work with you to create a regular schedule that works for you and for Gateway. The Domestic Violence Advocate works 40 hours per week. Most of these hours are during the day on Monday – Friday. You will generally work later one evening each week to assist with support group activities.

Early Learning Specialist

 

Gateway is seeking a part time (Monday evenings) early learning specialist. The early learning specialist will work with children ages six weeks – three years while their mothers attend support groups.

 

Benefits: Benefits are not offered with this position.

 

Requirements: Passionate about working with young children. College coursework in a related field (education, psychology, sociology, human services, etc.).  Values that align with Gateway’s mission. Able to successfully complete Gateway’s rigorous background screening process. 

 

Duties: Plan and implement educational activities for children ages six weeks – three years. 

 

Location: This position is fully in-person and is based at Gateway’s domestic violence shelter, which is in the city of Gainesville. 

 

Schedule: Monday evenings from 4:30 – 8:30. Additional shifts may be offered on a PRN basis.

 

Job Type: Part-time, approximately four hours per week.
