Teens & Dating Violence

Information for Parents and Teens.

Dating violence is much more prevalent that you may realize. At least one in three teens will experience some form of dating violence.

Teen dating violence is physical, sexual, psychological or emotional abuse within a dating relationship. Stalking may also be a form of dating violence. It can occur in person or digitally and might occur between a current or former dating partner.

Gateway has partnered with Project Safe in Athens, Georgia, to connect teens to a free and confidential teen text line. If you are concerned that you or someone you know is experiencing dating violence, text (706) 765-8019 for help.

Gateway employs a Domestic Violence Educator who offers prevention education programs for school and community groups. To schedule a program for your class or group, click here.
